Old America Was Insane (“we,” “us,” “the site”) publishes historical documentary stories at oldamericawasinsane.com. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how to reach us.

Who we are
The site is the companion to the YouTube channel and Facebook page Old America Was Insane. It is hosted on Hostinger. The public contact address is oldamericainsane@gmail.com.
What this site does
We publish written stories about American history. We do not sell accounts. We do not run a members-only login for readers. Comments are turned off.
Information you give us
If you email us, we receive whatever you put in the message: your address, your name if you use one, and the text. We use that only to answer you or to correct an error on the site. We do not sell that mail list. We do not send a daily newsletter unless you later join one and we say so on this page.
We do not ask for Social Security numbers, card numbers, or health records. Do not send them.
Information collected automatically
When you open a page, the host and any tools we use may record:
- the page you viewed
- the date and time
- your browser and device type
- a shortened or full IP address
- the site you came from, if any
This is ordinary server and analytics data. We use it to keep the site up, find broken pages, and understand which stories are read.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file your browser stores. WordPress, the theme, security or cache tools, and any Google or advertising tools we add later may set cookies.
You can block cookies in your browser. The site may look or work differently if you do.
Google
We may use Google services on this site, including Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Site Kit. If we later join Google AdSense, Google and its partners will use cookies or similar tools to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your visits to this site and other sites.
Google’s own rules apply to those tools. Read Google’s privacy policy and, when ads are live, the advertising settings at Google’s ad settings page.
You can also use browser controls and, where offered, an opt-out for personalized ads.
Advertising and affiliates (not all are live yet)
We plan to show ads through Google AdSense and to include Amazon affiliate links to history books and related titles. If a link is an affiliate link, a purchase you make after clicking may pay us a commission. That does not change the price you pay.
When those programs are live:
- AdSense and partners may collect or receive the kinds of data listed above to show ads
- Amazon may record that you arrived from this site if you click an affiliate link
Until an ad or affiliate program is actually switched on, those companies are not collecting data through this site for that program.
We do not sell your personal information.
Embedded and outbound links
Stories may link to newspapers, archives, libraries, YouTube, Facebook, and other sites. If you follow a link, that site’s privacy policy applies. YouTube and Facebook collect data under their own rules if you play a video or open those pages.
We tried to embed some YouTube videos on this site. Where the player fails, we use a plain link instead.
Children
This site is written for adults. It is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, write to oldamericainsane@gmail.com and we will delete it.
How long we keep information
Emails are kept long enough to answer and to keep a record of a correction. Server and analytics logs follow the host’s and Google’s normal periods. We do not keep a private profile of each reader.
Security
No website is perfectly safe. We use HTTPS, hosting security tools, and limited login access. Do not send passwords or payment details to the public email.
Your choices
You can:
- stop using the site
- block cookies in your browser
- email us to ask what we hold about you if you have written to us
- email us to ask that a message from you be deleted
- use Google’s ad settings when ads are running
If the law where you live gives you further rights (access, correction, deletion, restriction), write to the same address. We will answer as the law and our records allow.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way, we will update the date at the top of this page.
